Overview

Sultan Palace is a very relaxed, small and friendly hotel located in the Dongwe area on the east coast of the island where there are endless expanses of white sandy beaches and also where the reef opens up to reveal the breath-taking marine life. This hotel is approximately 50 minutes away from the airport thanks to the fully paved roads that wind through charming woodland and mango and papaya trees. It is set within lush and spontaneous vegetation and surrounded by small fishing villages and plenty of walkways through the mangroves where often you will see Herons in flight.

The hotel was built in 1996 and has been refurbished since to ensure guests experience a perfect holiday. The Sultan Palace consists of 15 beautifully decorated suites which means that staff are able to offer a personalised service to its guests.

Yes you can. If you speak to the hotel when you arrive they will be able to arrange a meal for you by the sea with your own private waiter.

Accommodation

Each of these gorgeous 15 suites are spread out around the expansive grounds of the resort and have huge terraces allowing access to the 20km of white sandy beach where you can also sit out and relax enjoying the view over the ocean and lush exotic gardens. Every suite is designed and decorated in a unique style giving particular attention to the rounded shape of the Nautilus shell and finished off with local furnishings not forgetting the warm hearted African roots.

The rooms are fully air conditioned and also have large windows offering the unique pleasure of having your breakfast in bed whilst admiring the magnificent morning views across the ocean.

Facilities

Sultan Palace has a large infinity style swimming pool over looking the ocean and is fully equipped with a wet bar, a natural spa and a massage corner where you can enjoy a back drop of stunning sun sets and low tides.

The Italian chefs at the restaurant offer an excellent variety of Mediterranean and international cuisine, freshly caught ocean fish and shell fish as well as local tropical fruits and local spices, all available both at the club house and the beachside restaurant.

Other activities

This hotel offers excellent opportunities for snorkelling, and equipment can be hired for free directly from the hotel.

Environment and local community

Sultan Palace does all it can to maintain a good relationship with the local community by sourcing food locally and employing members of the local community and training them to a high standard.

Our opinion

This hotel really is paradise in every sense of the word. The staff speak excellent English and will do everything they can to make you feel comfortable and nothing is ever too much trouble. The hotel is clean, well maintained and beautifully decorated. It really is the place to stay if you are in search of luxury, tranquillity and relaxation.
