Overlooking the beach, private palm thatched "bandas" shelter private day beds and carved sun loungers to provide intimate beachfront privacy.

Accommodation

The villas themselves are nothing short of full luxury two bed apartments, complete with two bedrooms with attached en suite bathrooms, living room, dressing room and large furnished terrace.

Out on the veranda stands a four-poster bed draped in silk and your own private plunge pool with long views of the Indian Ocean. Each villa is equipped with air conditioning, telephone, mini bar, satellite TV and DVD player.

Facilities

Facilities at The Palms include a swimming pool, evening bar, dining room, pool bar, internet and private beach front Banda.

The dining room is housed in the Plantation House where the mood changes with decoration daily. The menu offers a delightful and exciting fusion of fresh food and exotic spices.

The Palms also features a sophisticated Swahili style spa enhanced with candlelight and incense. Here a variety of treatments and therapies including facial, hand & foot treatments, as well as Thai and Balinese massages are given by a team of professional therapists.

Guests at The Palms can also use the neighbouring frangipani Spa, which offers world-class treatments and facilities. Other neighbouring facilities include a fitness centre, floodlit tennis court, marine activities centre with windsurfing and snorkelling. A fully equipped and licensed scuba diving centre is available at a charge which is payable locally.

Our opinion

The Palms is a perfect getaway retreat and one of the most romantic and relaxing venues on the Island of Zanzibar. It is very peaceful and down to earth making it perfect for those seeking tranquillity and the serene. Swimming off shore can be a little jagged, so footwear is advised, but apart from that; in style, comfort, and elegance, The Palms really does go the extra mile.
